Chuck Finale Review

As I mentioned in an post earlier today, I went over to my friend’s house early to watch the first ever episode of Chuck. And boy and I glad that I did.

Goodbye Chuck!

I remember over the summer of 2007 listening to a GeekShow Entertainment podcast as they previewed the new shows of the 2007 Fall television series. I specifically remember being grocery shopping (no lie) when they talked about a show where a nerdy guy gets a super computer inputted into his mind and gets thrown into a world of action and adventure.

That intrigued me.

2007 was also a year my wife and I were still living with friends after moving back from Florida the previous Fall. I remember telling my friend about this show and that we should give it a try.

We did, and we both fell in love with the show. While living with them for almost another year, we watched every episode together. After moving out, I still would go over every Monday (and now Friday) night to watch Chuck together. It was our show.

And tonight, I’m going back over to say goodbye. Goodbye, Chuck.

The Beginning of the End: The Final Season of Chuck

Tonight marks one of those bittersweet moments in the life (or lack there of) of a fan for a television show. The show you love is finally back for a new season - but you know going in that it is going in that this is it. This is the end.

Tonight that show is Chuck.

I don’t have much time to write this tonight but I just wanted to say something about a show that has brought me and my friends a lot of fun over the last 4 seasons (tonight starts Chuck’s fifth and final season).

This is the one show left that I still get together with my buddy for every week - and that’s why I don’t have much time to type. I have to quickly walk my dog, eat dinner, and head over to my friend’s house…For the first of the last.

It’s funny looking back to the beginning - realizing just how much has changed with the show.

But one thing has never changed - Chuck doesn’t take itself seriously. It’s a comedy show above all. And while it pokes fun at the spy/action genre, it does it with a quality that makes it an actual great addition to that genre.

That’s all I’m going to say for now - just happy to have Chuck and all his friends back….

For one final season!

Fall 2010: Returning Shows I’m Most Excited About

When I was a kid, summer seemed like it would last forever, but August would come around and inevitably that feeling of “it’s not long enough” would creep in. The month would start off great with my birthday - then later in the month my brother and I would spend a couple weeks with our grandparents at the beach. Before you know it - the dreaded September was right around the corner and it was back to school for us.

But as I’ve grown older, and ultimately more geeky, I’ve come to embrace September. Sure, I love lounging in a pool with a book as much as the next guy, but now that I am a working stiff summer doesn’t have the same impact as it used it. Now, I realize that September is the month that excites me the most (barring December of course) and that is for three reasons. One, the weather cools down. Two - FOOTBALL! And Three…..

The new season of television is finally upon us!

Chuck: Looking Ahead to Season 4

Isn’t it great to know that our friends from Burbank will be back next year? I must say that I love to be able to speculate about what is going to happen in the next season of Chuck - instead of speculating whether or not there will even be a next season.

Why I Like Chuck

As you can tell by most of my posts on this site, I am a television guy above all else. I love the long-form story process that shows go into where they develop characters, the world they live in, and the challeges that they go up against.

I also like shows that do not take themselves so seriously, aren’t afraid to be silly, look skilly or even just plain ridiculous all for the enjoyment of the audience.

And in the middle - is Chuck.
